Revive and enjoy the ancient technique of Chinese painting, Gongbi Hua, with artist, Lin Yap Gongbi “detailed strokes” is a watercolor technique that involves fine brushworks and layering of colors bringing about a detailed piece of work with vibrant colors.
This style of Chinese painting began during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) and peaked during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279 AD) when the royal family endorsed the refined Gongbi paintings in particularly Emperor Huizong who himself a great artist.
All materials are provided in this course.
In this workshop, you will learn the art of painting flowers Gongbi style. You will be shown step by step how to develop your own piece of Gongbi painting. You will be surprised how calming the whole process is!

Lin Yap graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago where she majored in Interior Design with an interest in painting. She practiced as an Interior Designer for 20 years in the United States. Upon her return to Malaysia in 2012, her interest in painting stirred again and learned Gongbi in Taiwan. Now she is inspired to share the beauty of the Gongbi painting technique.
